Shoosmiths adds planning partner to Real Estate team
Planning lawyer Fraser Mitchell has been appointed partner in the Real Estate team at national law firm Shoosmiths.
Mr Mitchell moves from Shepherd & Wedderburn in Edinburgh where he was a senior associate in its Planning & Environmental Group. He has acted for public bodies and private developers in connection with all aspects of planning and development, including strategic advice on planning applications and appeals, negotiating planning agreements, and advising on roads issues and compulsory purchase procedure and compensation. He has also sat on the Scottish Property Federation Planning & Development Committee.
He is the third individual to be recruited or promoted to partner in the now 24 strong team in Scotland since May, following the promotion of Sheelagh Cooley and the lateral hire of Barry McKeown.
Steve Dougherty, partner and head of Real Estate for Shoosmiths in Scotland, commented: "Fraser is a highly regarded planning lawyer whose breadth of specialist knowledge, including of Scotland’s planning system and latest legislation will be invaluable to our expanding client base of volume housebuilders, developers, property funds, student housing and affordable housing providers and commercial developers."
