Society debates positive gender discrimination at partner level
“This house believes positive discrimination is the best way to achieve gender balance at partnership level.”
The proposition is the subject of the Law Society of Scotland's platinum anniversary debate, to be held next to mark the Society's 70 years and 100 years of women in law.
Two teams of debaters will argue their case, with an option for observers to raise questions from the floor. The motion looks towards career progression of women in law, now and in the future.
It takes place on Thursday 3 October from 6.30pm (registration from 6pm), in the Society's offices at 144 Morrison Street, Edinburgh. A drinks reception will follow the debate.
The event is free to attend and take part in, but the Society asks those attending to consider making a donation to the Lawscot Foundation, the charity that supports intending lawyers from less advantaged backgrounds through their studies.
