Changes to CPD guidelines
22 Sep 04
Relaxation to guidelines for those completing their annual requirement early, and those fulfilling their requirement within one month after the formal deadline
A change has been made to the CPD guidelines as a result of the responses which were received when the CPD Review Consultation paper was circulated to local Faculties in mid 1999.
The change allows that where a solicitor has achieved the required number of hours of group study by the end of September in any year, then time spent at any further event which qualifies as group study during the month of October, may be counted towards the requirement for the following practice year commencing on1st November of that year.
Where a solicitor has failed to achieve the required number of hours of group study by the end of October in any year, then time spent at any event which qualifies as group study during the month of November, may be counted towards the requirement for the practice year which ended on 31 October of that year.
Any extension of time beyond that provided for above will be granted only in exceptional circumstances and on cause shown.
If you have any questions about the change, please phone Jan McAlister on 0131 476 8155/8126.
