New appointment for Morton Fraser

Joy Barnard has been appointed head of insolvency at Morton Fraser

Law firm Morton Fraser has appointed a new insolvency and recoveries partner with effect from 1 November.

Joy Barnard, who is currently an associate with the firm, has specialised in insolvency law for some years and is acting in the first liquidation of a legal LLP in Scotland – that of Boyd Napier.

She said: “There will be many important lessons to be learned from this case which will impact on practice management in law firms in Scotland in the future.”

Joy studied at the University of Edinburgh, completing an MA (Hons) and PhD in Archaeology before graduating in law. She has been with Morton Fraser since 1994 and was promoted to associate in 2002.
