Master policy: criminal court undertaking

Criminal court work for purposes of Master Policy premium discount does not include sheriff court references from children's panels or police disciplinary hearings

The Society’s arrangements for the Master Policy for professional indemnity insurance allow a firm to be entitled to a 75% discount on the Master Policy premium where a firm’s activities will be restricted to criminal court work only throughout the practice year. Please note that criminal court work does not include the following:

  • Appearances before a sheriff at a hearing to establish the facts following a reference from a children’s panel;
  • Representing police officers at a disciplinary hearing.
