English chairman for Fife firm

Pagan Osborne appoints Cobbetts' Michael Shaw as non-executive chairman

Fife-based legal firm Pagan Osborne has appointed English-qualified Michael Shaw as its non-executive chairman.

Mr Shaw, managing partner of Cobbetts, now the largest regional law firm outside London, is English born and is not qualified in Scots law but furthers Pagan Osborne's desire to build an open management system.

Mr Shaw has seen Cobbetts grow rapidly through five mergers in the last two and a half years to its present 125 partners in three cities. Pagan Osborne hopes to use his experience in furthering its own ambitious plans for growth.

Alistair Morris, managing partner of the 250 year old Fife firm said:

“In a highly demanding profession it is extremely difficult to maintain a competitive advantage, but Michael adheres to our belief that it is possible.

"At Pagan Osborne, we have taken our own quite dramatic steps towards shifting the internal culture away from a partner led organisation to a common management structure and Michael's arrival will assist and complement our overall goals."
