An Edinburgh solicitor escaped prison after driving while banned
A lawyer, who wrote off his £30,000 uninsured Porsche after a string of driving offences, has escaped a jail term.
Michael McNiven, 57, was sentenced to 80 hours of community service and banned for nine months for driving while disqualified. He was also fined £200 for driving with no insurance.
Mr McNiven, who ran his own practice in Edinburgh, received a four year ban and an £800 fine in May of this year for his third driving offence.
The Law Society of Scotland said it was considering what course of action to take.
