Bishops Solicitors in frame to land a part in the next Rebus novel
Bishops Solicitors beat off competition from Lothian and Borders Police and the Scotsman to win pole position in the Rebus Challenge, a fundraising mystery treasure trail organised by Capability Scotland.
Some 14 teams took part in a three part challenge in Edinburgh based on the Inspector Rebus books by crime writer Ian Rankin. The teams were let loose in Edinburgh to solve clues, before taking part in a fact/fiction challenge and then a final general knowledge quiz, hosted by Ian Rankin.
Each team can gain additional points for fundraising between now and 31 January 2005. With Bishops being in the lead position for receiving the most points in the quest, the firm are confident of winning overall.
The winning team will be mentioned in Rankin's next Rebus thriller and one member of the team will have a character role in the book.
Marion Menzie, a partner in the film, said: "Since the challenge we've now been badgering all our colleagues to make sure that we raise the target donation to fulfil our chance of winning overall. If we get to that state I think we'll have to draw names out of a hat as I think everyone in the team would love to be included in a Rebus novel."
