Scotland's share of running costs of new UK supreme court to be lower than expected
The Lord Advocate, Colin Boyd, told MSPs yesterday that Scotland's share of the running costs of the proposed new Supreme Court will be around £460,000 a year.
This is less than previous estimates of around £500,000-£700,000.
The plan to create a Supreme Court was first announced by Lord Falconer last year. The new body is proposed to take over the functions of the House of Lords and Privy Council in hearing Scottish appeals.
The preferred option for locating the new court is Middlesex Guild Hall in London.
