Solicitor convicted of tax fraud sues former employers for unfair dismissal
Louise Hay, the solicitor was caught submitting fraudulent claims to the Inland Revenue for working families tax credit, is claiming unfair dismissal by her former employers.
The mother-of-three is seeking compensation from Simpson & Marwick at an employment tribunal in Dundee, claiming that disciplinary procedures leading up to her dismissal were not properly followed.
In November this year she was fined £750 after pleading guilty to obtaining more than £5,000 tax credit to which she was not entitled. She left the Law Society of Scotland's roll in September.
The tribunal is currently considering a submission by Simpson & Marwick that the application should be dismissed as having no prospects of success.
