Reform of Scotland's charity laws given cautious welcome by committee
A Holyrood committee has given a careful welcome to the Executive's proposed reforms of charity law.
The legislation was unveiled last year following a series of high profile scandals in the charity sector in Scotland. It proposes to bring in stricter rules for the country's 25,000 charities and tougher rules on fundraising.
MSPs have urged ministers to make some changes to ensure the regulatory burden would not be too great for smaller charities and that charities operating UK-wide did not face dual regulation.
They also want to make sure that support will be given to charities to help them adjust to the new regime.
