UNHCR papers online

UNHCR position papers and letters regularly requested from its London office are accesible through the Electronic Immigration Network

As of February 2005, approximately 120 UNHCR position papers and letters which are regularly requested from its London office will be accessible through the Electronic Immigration Network (“EIN”).

EIN is a voluntary sector organisation specialising in the provision of information on immigration and refugee law via the internet, particularly in the UK and Europe. The website can be accessed on www.ein.org.uk and is an integral research tool for asylum practitioners. It is hoped that it will prove easier to search accurately than the UNHCR website.

The majority of information on this site is within the members’ site which is aimed primarily at immigration law practitioners and advisers. The site also has an extensive area of general resources and links for those interested in immigration and asylum. You can join the database by accessing the website address above, where full details can be found.

All the letters and positions placed on EIN are based on those that have been submitted in individual cases previously, but have been anonymised for EIN purposes. The letters are all sourced from the relevant UNHCR branch offices throughout the world and/or its headquarters in Geneva, and have been electronically signed by the Acting Deputy Representative of UNHCR London. Therefore, although the letter or position will not refer directly to individual cases by name, the information included therein should be seen to be of general application.
