Rowdy neighbours given the boot

Fife family kicked out of its home under ASBO laws

A Fife father and son have been ejected from their home under new powers being used for the first time in Scotland.

Andrew and Phillip Gordon have been banned from setting foot in their £70,000 privately owned home in Dunfermline for three months under the new Antisocial Behaviour (Scotland) Act.

The closure order was granted following two years of noise and disruption to neighbours, including rowdy parties. Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard that 18 year old Phillip allowed other youths to take over the house while his father was working offshore. Neighbours complained of abuse, vandalism and fights in the street.

Superintendent Bill Lawrie of Fife Police stressed such action was a last resort but officers had been left with no choice.
