Scottish Young Lawyers' President on European Bar committee
Samara Shah, President of the Scottish Young Lawyers' Association, has been elected Honorary Secretary of the European Young Bar Association.
Ms Shah, a solicitor at Standard Life Assurance Company, is one of an eight-strong committee elected at the EYBA's annual general meeting in Bled, Slovenia.
For the first time the EYBA has an East European President, Elijus Burgis from Lithuania. He succeeds Irishman Richard Willis who becomes Immediate Past President.
The other committee members are Londoners Ben Rigby (Vice President) and Lorenz van der Meij (Treasurer); and Petra Braun-Boghos (Germany), Annalisa Checchi (London) and Jeroen Dieles (Netherlands), all executive officers.
EYBA, founded in 1993, is a non-profit-making, multinational association of young lawyers up to age 40 from all forms of legal practice.
