Council to take enforcement action against conservation area breaches
Glasgow City Council has announced its intention to crack down on property alterations in the city's conservation areas which do not conform to planning policy.
Planning officers will use enforcement powers against people who replace original sash windows with double glazing, or carry out building work using wood, stone or tiles different to the original materials.
A survey found that a high percentage of windows in conservation areas did not comply with planning policy and most had been installed without planning consent.
The council also plans to offer grants as incentives to carry out repairs.
