Tribunal chairman among speakers as three employment practices combine talents

Three of Aberdeen's leading law firms are co-hosting an employment law seminar in the city next month.

Issues such as the new Disability Discrimination Act and sick leave will be examined at the event organised by Simpson & Marwick, Paull & Williamsons and Proactive Employment Lawyers on Wednesday 8 June at The Marcliffe, Pitfodels.

Reg Christie, a chairman at the employment tribunal in Aberdeen will be one of the guest speakers. Mr Christie, who hears many of the employment tribunal cases in Aberdeen, will offer a first-hand insight into how employment tribunals work and, in particular, what they look for in making their decisions.

Sean Saluja, partner and head of the employment law team at Paull & Williamsons, commented: "Employment law continues to change rapidly and present fresh challenges for businesses. With new legislation coming into force all the time, it's important for all businesses to stay one step ahead so that they can avoid tribunal claims and maintain best practice.

The seminar is aimed at business leaders, HR managers and others involved with employment law, as well as solicitors. Mr Saluja added: "This is a chance not just to learn about the law, but also to learn about the latest thinking in how the law should be approached from a management point of view."
