Move to LLP status and new appointments at Bishops

Bishops Solicitors and Consulting is the latest Scottish law firm to become a limited liability partnership.

The firm, which was established three years ago, said becoming an LLP was the next logical step as part of a restructuring of the business.

Managing Partner Alasdair Fleming said: “While our clients will not be affected by the change, it is important for us to demonstrate that we take the same progressive attitude to our own business activities as we do to theirs.”

The firm also announced it has strengthened its team with the appointment of two more solicitors and a management consultant.

Shona Aird joins the Edinburgh office of the firm as an associate in the Dispute Resolution team, having previously spent 17 years with Ketchen and Stevens.

In Glasgow, Victoria Ulph has joined the firm to specialise in family law. She has a range of experience in the field, working in private practice in Scotland and in the Cayman Islands.

Bishops Consulting, which has doubled its turnover and staff in the two years since it was established, has appointed Gerard McCormack as a management consultant. Mr McCormack was previously corporate policy officer at East Dunbartonshire Council and prior to that, worked as a cost analyst for National Australia Bank.

Mr Fleming said that the new appointments were another step in the firm’s strategic plan to grow the business in specific areas. “We have identified the areas where we want to grow the business and these include strengthening our Edinburgh presence and our family law activities. I am delighted that Shona and Victoria have joined us as they bring a terrific amount of expertise and experience to our team.”
