Findlay may resign as business chair

Donald Findlay is considering quitting Faculty of Advocates business post

Controversial QC Donald Findlay will decide this week if he is to quit as chairman of the Faculty of Advocates' business wing, following a storm over a joke about the late Pope John Paul II.

The latest row comes six years after he resigned as vice chairman of Rangers Football Club after he was filmed singing sectarian songs at a club function.

A spokesman for the Faculty of Advocates confirmed that Mr Findlay is considering his position as chairman of the board and expects to make a decision this week.

He was fined £3,500 by the Faculty following the 1999 incident.
