Honour for leading property law expert
Professor Kenneth G C Reid, Scottish Law Commissioner, Professor of Property Law at Edinburgh University and a leading textbook writer, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours list.
The award is made "for services to law reform in Scotland". Professor Reid was the architect of the major legislative reforms which culminated in the abolition of the centuries-old feudal system in Scotland last November.
Among others with a legal connection who received honours is James Gallagher, head of the Justice Department at the Scottish Executive, who becomes a Companion of the Bath (CB).
Two leading members of the children's panels each receive an OBE: George Anderson, chair of the Children's Panel Chairmen's Group, and John Anderson JP, chair of the Edinburgh Children's Panel.
