Sheriff Derek Pyle to transfer to Inverness

Sheriff Derek Pyle will be introduced at Inverness Sheriff Court on June 29.

It was originally planned that Sheriff Pyle, 52, currently a floating sheriff in Tayside, Central and Fife, would mainly cover the sheriff courts at both Inverness and Tain after Sheriff Donald Booker-Milburn retired at the end of last month.

However it now looks like he will not be sitting regularly in Tain, although he may occasionally sit there.

Sheriff Pyle caused controversy last year when he admonished a Scottish doctor who admitted downloading pornographic images of young boys from the internet. In March of this year appeal judges ruled the sentence was unduly lenient.
