President welcomes new solicitor advocates
Five new solicitor advocates are due to be introduced at the Court of Session in Edinburgh tomorrow (12 July).
Caroline Flanagan, President of the Law Society of Scotland will introduce the candidates to the court, where they will be granted rights of audience in the Court of Session, High Court, House of Lords and the Privy Council.
This brings the total number of solicitor advocates qualified in Scotland to 194, practising criminal law, civil law, or both.
Caroline Flanagan said: "I'm delighted to present the new solicitor advocates to the court. Solicitor advocates play an increasingly important role in Scotland's courts. The services they provide enhance access to justice and ensure there is more choice for clients."
The five new solicitor advocates to be introduced are:
Christine Patricia McCrossan, McCrossan Solicitors, Cults
Peter William Littlejohn, Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace, Aberdeen
Mark Allan Easton, McGrigors Solicitors, Glasgow
Arlene McDaid, Harper Macleod LLP, Glasgow
Paul Stephen Kearney, Procurator Fiscal Service, Hamilton
