Three advocate deputes appointed

The pool of legal talent available for prosecuting cases in the High Court has widened  with the appointment of three new advocate deputes.

Angus Stewart QC and Angela Grahame have both been appointed as Senior Advocate Deputes.

Mr Stewart was a senior member of the Bar and Keeper of the Advocates' Library until 2002, and is currently serving on the panel of ad hoc Advocate Deputes. Angela Grahame has been serving as an Advocate Depute since 2003.

Alastair Kennedy, a Solicitor Advocate since 2003, has been appointed as an Advocate Depute. Mr Kennedy has spent much of his career with the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

Lord Advocate Colin Boyd QC said: "I am delighted to be announcing these appointments, which further strengthen the already considerable talent that is evident in Crown Counsel. These lawyers will contribute to the prosecution of the most serious crime in Scotland.

"I am pleased that the Crown continues to attract high quality candidates, from diverse legal backgrounds. These appointments include members of the Faculty of Advocates and staff in the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service."
