Jamieson argues for London airgun decision

Justice Minister believes legislation for airgun control would be better coming from Westminster
The Justice Minister, Cathy Jamieson has said that tougher controls on airgun use would best be handled by Westminister.
The minister said legislation currently going through the UK Parliament offered the best prospect of tighter control and that she expected to talk about this issue with Home Office within the next few days.
The mother of two-year-old Andrew Morton, who was killed after being shot with an airgun by Mark Bonini, has led calls for airguns to be banned.
But Ms Jamieson argues that it would be quicker to have the ban debated by Westminister, rather than the Scottish Parliament.
Firearms legislation is a matter reserved to Westminster, but Scottish Ministers have been pressing for tighter controls than the Home Office is currently proposing.
