The mother of a convicted rapist challenged Justice Minister Cathy Jamieson about her son's case yesterday while the minister was on an official visit to Aberdeen.
Lillian Gordon's son Graham was jailed for five years for rape. Mrs Gordon said she had been writing to Ms Jamieson for more than a year to try to get answers about confusion over the rape law in Scotland.
Ms Jamieson, in Aberdeen to open the new High Court building, declined to answer Mrs Gordon's questions.
Mrs Gordon said her son, convicted of raping a woman he picked up outside an Aberdeen nightclub, had been in prison for three years for a crime he did not commit. At trial Gordon claimed the woman had consented to have sex.
He and his family have made complaints to Grampian Police about the way the case was handled. Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary is due to launch an investigation.
