St Andrews firm plans charity abseil from Forth Rail Bridge
A Fife legal practice is to attempt an unusual charity stunt next month when eight of its partners and staff abseil the 160 foot drop from the Forth Rail Bridge.
The intrepid volunteers from St Andrews firm Murray Donald & Caithness, will tackle the SAS-style freefall abseil on Sunday 25 September to raise funds for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS).
“CHSS does excellent work for people with chest, heart and stroke conditions,” explained partner Kenneth Gray. “That’s why I’m determined to raise hundreds of pounds and tackle my fear of heights in one go!”
CHSS fundraising director Norman Barrett said: “We are delighted that Network Rail are allowing us to stage this event. Abseiling is one of the world’s most exhilarating sports. You require courage, determination and a little madness to leap into fresh air and we hope that the event will raise over £30,000 for the work of the charity.”
