Transco not to appeal £15m fine
Gas supplier accepts High Court conviction and record fine for fatal explosion
Transco will not appeal against the record £15 million fine imposed last month after a jury at the High Court in Edinburgh unanimously convicted it for a breach of safety rules leading to a deadly explosion.
The blast in 1999 killed a family in their home in Larkhall, Lanarkshire.
Transco said it was disappointed with the jury's verdict but wanted the case brought to a close "for all concerned".
A spokesman for the gas supplier said: "Transco has always deeply regretted the terrible tragedy at Larkhall and we apologise".
