Only 5% of Glasgow traffic police cited are called to give evidence
A survey of traffic police in Strathclyde has found that only 5% of officers called to the district court were required to give evidence.
The six-month survey, covering more than 900 cases in Glasgow, found that in more than half, officers appeared before being stood down. Only one in 20 officers gave evidence, with 54% of cases resulting in wasted police time. This equates to more than 1,300 hours in wasted overtime.
