Senior Glasgow prosecutor caught with vice girl after leaving police function
A Glasgow prosecutor was arrested for alleged indecency after leaving a reception at police headquarters.
Principal procurator fiscal depute Stuart MacFarlane, 37, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning after being arrested in Glasgow city centre. He had previously been at a police function at Strathclyde Police headquarters in Pitt Street on Friday night.
It is alleged MacFarlane was caught with a 27-year-old vice girl who was performing a sex act on him. He and the woman were arrested on Bothwell Street, taken to a police station, questioned and then released. Both have been reported to the procurator fiscal.
A spokesperson for the Crown Office said the case would be considered by the procurator fiscal service in Edinburgh, rather than Glasgow, to be sure of impartiality. The service did not comment on personnel issues which were clearly confidential, but the member of staff in question was not presently at work.
MacFarlane lives near Eaglesham and previously served as a prosecutor in Arbroath and dundee. He recently returned from tour of duty with the Territorial Army in Iraq. He is understood to be married with two children.
