First full-time managing partner for Miller Samuel

Diane Cairney takes up role ahead of firm's planned expansion into Edinburgh

The Glasgow-based commercial law firm Miller Samuel has appointed its first full-time managing partner.

Former head of litigation Diane Cairney will replace Michael Samuel, who was carrying out the role part-time and who will now become chairman. Ms Cairney's appointment comes ahead of Miller Samuel's planned expansion into the Edinburgh market next year.

Ms Cairney became a partner at Miller Samuel in 1999 and was head of litigation, specialising in personal injury cases.

Michael Samuel, who co-founded Miller Samuel in 1973, said the demands of runnning the firm had grown in the last few years and the restructured management team reflected this growth. the firm has secured premises for its Edinburgh office, where one partner is likely to be Stanley Moffat, who recently joined Miller Samuel after 17 years at Edinburgh firm Gebals.
