Shortlist for Scottish legal awards unveiled

Fourth year of awards attracts "uniformly high standard" of entries

Harper MacLeod, Bell & Scott, McClure Naismith and Pagan Osborne are the four practices shortlisted for the "Firm of the Year" award in the 2006 Cuthbert Scottish Legal Awards.

The annual award ceremony, now in its fourth year, will take place on 3 February at Glasgow's Hilton Hotel. Guest speaker will be Jennie Bond, the former BBC royal correspondent, and more than 500 lawyers are expected to attend.

The judging panel was chaired by Margo MacDonald MSP who said that this year's standard of entires was uniformly high.

In the running for partner of the year are Allan Radlow of McVey & Murricane, David Bone of Wright Johnston & Mackenzie, Alasdair Fleming of Bishops and Bill Pagan of Pagan Osborne.

Other nominations include Kirsteen MacLeod of Burness, Bruce Caldow of Harper MacLeod, Fraser McGillies of Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie and Anona Simpson Greig of Pagan Osborne for rising star of the year.
