Fifteen schools make debate regional finals

"First-class standards" for Law Society's schools debating competition

Fifteen school teams from across Scotland have made it through to the regional finals of the Law Society of Scotland's Donald Dewar Memorial debating tournament.

The four regional finals will be held on Wednesday 22 February at venues to be confirmed.

Neil Stevenson of the Society said: "The competition has now become the largest schools debating tournament in Scotland with over 150 teams competing. The standard has been first class and those schools still involved, can be suitably proud of their debating talent."

Simpson & Marwick solicitors and the Glasgow Bar Association are sponsoring the event. A prize of £1,000 will be awarded to the winning school with £250 for the runner up.
