Commission for Racial Equality says not all departments are meeting their obligations
Scotland's public sector organisations must not be complacent about their obligations under the Race Relations Act, the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) has warned.
The interim director of CRE Scotland Ali Jarvis said that while some Executive departments are meeting the requirements of the Act, others still have a lot of work to do to meet expectations.
Whitehall departments are currently being examined by the CRE to check they match the requirements.
Ms Jarvis added that the CRE would expect the Scottish Executive departments and agencies to be leading the way in promoting race equality, but this did not appear to be the case, nor did the Executive appear to have made any racial equality impact assessments of its proposed policies.
