New partner for Fife firm

Fergus Gilmour joins Murray Donald Drummond Cook to head up Cupar office

Fife based law firm Murray Donald Drummond Cook has appointed a new partner to head up its Cupar office.

Fergus Gilmour, 34, joins Murray Donald Drummond Cook from the Edinburgh based law firm Leslie Deans & Co, where he was a partner. This appointment will bring the number of partners at the firm up to 10.

Mr Gilmour, who lives in Kirkcaldy, has already built up a strong reputation in Fife, previously working in St Andrews from 1997 to 2004 and specialising in the area of property. He will now manage a team of eight staff in Cupar, primarily dealing with residential property as well as related private client matters, including wills and taxation.

The Fife based Murray Donald Drummond Cook was formed in 2005 by the merger of two of the area's leading law firms, Murray Donald & Caithness and Drummond Cook & Mackintosh. The firm has nine partners and offices stretching across St Andrews, Cupar, Anstruther and Leuchars, providing a full range of legal services.

Senior partner James Murray said: “I am delighted that we have succeeded in attracting Fergus back to Fife. His appointment will undoubtedly help improve on our expanding client base, particularly as Fergus has already built up a considerable reputation in the region during his time at St Andrews."
