A Glasgow man accused of a military hack is facing conviction in US

Gary McKinnon, accused of the "biggest military hack of all time" is fighting to avoid extradition to the US, according to a report in today's Press and Journal.

Mr McKinnon, who now lives in London, faces more than 50 years in prison if convicted in the US of sabotaging defence systems.

He is planning to lodge an appeal in the next 10 days and is willing to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.

The Home Office reported last week that the secretary of state had signed an order for Mr McKinnon's extradition to the US for charges connected with computer hacking.

He has a fortnight to appeal against the decisions of the district judge and the secretary of state.

US authorities claim Mr McKinnon caused $700,000 worth of damage to their networks in a year.
