New £600,000 court at Perth needs further work
A newly-constructed court room at Perth Sheriff Court has had to be shut down because it is unsuitable for public use.
Court three cost £600,000 to construct, but was found to be impractical because the sheriff is so high up, he can't be seen and there are steps down to the dock, making access difficult for the disabled or the infirm.
The project designer had decided to carry out major engineering work to lower the floor in the court room, but a team of workmen has now been called back in to insert a new floating floor in the same place as the floor that was removed. The new work is thought to cost more than £10,000.
