New finance director for Morton Fraser

Firm appoints Sandy Macrae to role

The law firm Morton Fraser has appointed Sandy Macrae as its finance director.

Mr Macrae, 46, joins the firm today from John Menzies plc and brings significant financial skills and commercial experience to the firm.

A qualified chartered accountant, Mr Macrae has held senior financial positions in a number of well-known Scottish public companies and was previously finance director of both Bett Brothers plc and Meconic plc - where he played a key role in revitalising the company’s share price and its subsequent sale. He has since worked on a consultancy basis with ProStrakan Group through its successful flotation in 2005 and with John Menzies plc, as the group financial controller.

Linda Urquhart, Morton Fraser’s chief executive, said: “I am pleased to welcome Sandy to Morton Fraser and am very much looking forward to working with him. We have ambitious plans for the future and he will be a key member of our management team tasked with implementing those plans.”

Morton Fraser has offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The firm has 32 partners, 20 associates and four directors.
