Police investigation into allegations surrounding decision to drop criminal case

A procurator-fiscal depute in Dundee has been suspended from her job, while the police investigate allegations concerning her decision to drop a criminal case.

Morag Stuart, 34, is a former chair of the Scottish Young Lawyers Association and executive member for Scotland of the European Young Bar Association. She joined the fiscal service after moving to Dundee, having previously worked in civil litigation.

A statement for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said it was aware of the police investigation and that according to usual practice, the staff member concerned had been suspended.

Once the investigation is concluded, a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal in Edinburgh.
