Last of Scotland's big four converts to limited liability partnership

McGrigors has converted to limited liability (LLP) partnership status - the last of Scotland's Big Four law firms to confirm such a move.

The conversion actually took place a week ago but McGrigors, having told its clients, did not break the news until the weekend.

Becoming an LLP firm means that the personal assets of non-negligent partners are protected should there be a damages claim against the firm as a whole.

Dundas & Wilson was the first of the big four to convert in November 2004, followed by Maclay Murray & Spens. Shepherd+ Wedderburn previously announced plans to convert from next month.
