Regulatory committees first in line for new appointment procedure

The Law Society of Scotland is reminding solicitors of the deadine for applications to serve on its regulatory committees from next June.

As announced last month (http://www.journalonline.co.uk/news/1003602.aspx), the first tranche of appointments under the Society's new corporate governance procedure is in hand, with applications invited for the membership of 10 committees.

These are: admissions; audit; conveyancing and executry practitioners; guarantee fund; insolvency solicitors adjudication; insurance; investor protection; practising certificate; professional practice; and rights of audience. Click on the above link for a brief description of the remit of each committee.

The work involves reading committee papers and attending monthly meetings at the Society's offices in Edinburgh. Appointments are normally for a three year period.

Application forms can be obtained via the Society's website www.lawscot.org.uk, or by emailing carolnightingale@lawscot.org.uk . They should be returned by 31 December.
