Scottish Legal Awards shortlist published after entries rise by a third
Familiar names dominate the shortlist for the 2007 Scottish Legal Awards, announced today, but a scattering of newer finalists also make a showing.
The organisers, Cuthbert recruitment, sponsored by Bank of Scotland Corporate, recorded a one third rise in the number of entries in this, the awards' fifth year.
Three names are shortlisted for the top category of firm of the year: Bell & Scott, Gillespie Macandrew, and Pagan Osborne, a previous winner. The partner of the year finalists are Mike Dailly of Govan Law Centre, Tom Johnston of Young & Partners, Ken McCracken of Wright Johnston & Mackenzie (WJM), and David Reith of Lindsays.
WJM feature in no fewer than six of the 12 categories, and Pagan Osborne in five (with two teams in the support team category shortlist). Govan Law Centre, Bell & Scott and Harper Macleod are all listed in three, and Gillespie Macandrew, Young & Partners and Macdonald Henderson in two each. Only one firm featured in the employment firm of the year category and will be announced at the award ceremony on 23 February.
The full list can be found on www.thescottishlegalawards.com and appears in today's edition of the Scotsman, the event's media partner.
