New base will help maintain competitive advantage in legal marketplace, says firm

Maclay Murray & Spens LLP (MMS) is to move its Edinburgh office to a new building at No 1 Quartermile Square.

The move, to the site of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary now undergoing a major redevelopment to provide new shops, office and homes, will enable MMS to further consolidate its position in Edinburgh. The new office takes up 50,000 square feet with space for up to 250 members of staff.

MMS chief executive Magnus Swanson said: "The move to No 1 Quartermile Square will be a significant step forward in the development of our business in Edinburgh. In the wider development, the lifestyle considerations make the move very attractive for our people given the planned retail and leisure facilities and the location on The Meadows. The war for talent is a feature of the legal marketplace and we believe this move will help us maintain a competitive advantage."

The firm's most recent annual results saw profits jump by 21% on the previous year, with turnover topping £48.7m.
