Four appointed to advocates' discipline tribunal

Non-lawyer members' appointments will run for five years
The Scottish Executive has announced the appointment of four non-lawyer members to the Faculty of Advocates Complaints Committee and Disciplinary Tribunal.
The four are: William Aitken, who currently volunteers with the Citizens Advice Bureau; John Anderson of the General Teaching Council for Scotland and a former member of the Scottish Solicitor's Discipline Tribunal; David Denton, also a volunteer with the Citizens Advice Bureau, and chair of the Scottish Association for Mental Health; and Dr Kevin Smith, a senior lecturer with the University of Strathclyde in the department of bioscience and an active medical researcher.
These appointments will run from March 2007 until February 2012. Appointments are not remunerated although expenses are reimbursed by the Faculty.
