A diverse programme of law reform projects features in the Scottish Law Commission's annual report for 2006.
The report, published today, records the publication during the year of discussion papers on rape and other sexual offences, time limits in personal injury actions, and the nature and constitution of trusts; and reports on interest on debt and damages, and conversion of long leases.
The first two discussion papers should become the subject of reports during the current year. The Commission also hopes to report on Sharp v Thomson (the case on the property caught when a company goes into receivership), and variation and termination of trusts.
Discussion papers are predicted on damages for wrongful death, succession, and judicial factors.
Also recorded in the report are various joint projects with the Law Commission for England & Wales, including work on insurance contract law.
The report, which can be viewed on the Commission's website www.scotlawcom.gov.uk, covers the concluding period of Lord Eassie's chairmanship. He was succeeded at the beginning of this year by Lord Drummond Young.
