Maclay Murray & Spens and Shepherd & Wedderburn announce London expansion
Phillip Skerrett, a partner in the London corporate team of Maclay Murray & Spens (MMS), is to be the firm's new chairman, succeeding Michael Walker who retires on 31 May.
Mr Skerrett joined MMS in 2004 as part of its merger with boutique financial services practice, the City Law Partnership.
MMS says his election as chairman reinforces the partners’ commitment to continued expansion, as well as confirming the key role its London office will play in this goal.
Mr Skerrett said: “I feel privileged, proud and excited to be taking over the role of chairman of MMS, though it will be a daunting task to fill the shoes of Michael Walker. I look forward to supporting CEO Magnus Swanson and the management team as the firm moves forward."
Michael Walker will continue to act as a consultant following his retiral. During his 30 years with MMS, he was responsible for forging international links with Lex Mundi, the global network of 160 independent law firms. He recently chaired the Lex Mundi network and continues as Chair Emeritus until October.
Also in London, Shepherd & Wedderburn has appointed two new partners. Angus Rollo joins from Shearman & Sterling LLP, while Blair Adams joins the employment law team from O'Melveny & Myers.
