Role as consultant to public law division of Scotland's biggest firm
The former Lord Advocate, Colin Boyd QC (Lord Boyd of Duncansby) has been recruited by Dundas & Wilson to lead its national public law practice. He joins the firm as a consultant and will work between the firm's offices in Scotland and London.
Lord Boyd served as Solicitor General and then Lord Advocate from May 1997 until October last year when he suddenly announced his resignation. At the time he said he felt he had been in the job long enough and wanted to play a fuller role in the House of Lords, to which he had recently been elevated, and in the private sector.
Dundas & Wilson said that the scale and variety of public sector work in which the firm had been engaged had grown significantly over the past decade. Lord Boyd's experience in planning and constitutional law "will substantially enhance D&W's capability to serve its clients in this sector".
Ann Faulds, head of D&W’s planning and transportation team, said: “Colin's wealth of experience and his reputation for innovation in government brings welcome constitutional law expertise and will help us to orchestrate the wide range of services that we offer in the public sector.”
Lord Boyd added: “I believe this is a fantastic opportunity for me to lead an already well-recognised team at a time when great opportunities and challenges lie ahead for the public sector.”
