Hamilton Sheriff Court organises line dancing and golf skills sessions for workers
Those working in the law sometimes have an reputation for stuffiness, but one Scottish court is doing its best to shake off that unfair tag by offering line dancing and golf lessons...
The two-hour sessions, organised by the Scottish Court Service and aimed at promoting the Scottish Executive's Learning at Work scheme, took place at Hamilton Sheriff Court. One court was set aside for line-dancing lessons, with staff being offered the alternative of golf lessons.
Some lawyers criticised the scheme because it restricted the normal business of the court, but a spokesperson for the Scottish Court Service said the sessions had been arranged to coincide with the absence of most sheriffs to attend IT training lessons, so there were fewer cases to be heard than usual.
