Goals in sight for Edinburgh University Law School's tercentenary appeal
The University of Edinburgh Law Tercentenary Campaign has raised £785,000 from alumni, corporate and trust supporters towards a fund which will be used for scholarships.
The campaign aims to raise more than £1 million by the end of 2007. As well as creating 10 new scholarships, the money will be used for a travel award. A new moot court facility, where lawyers-to-be can practise their courtroom skills, has also been funded and work begins soon. The campaign is also financing a Europa Institute Fellow and a lecture series on human rights.
The Law Tercentenary Campaign was established to enhance the future of the School of Law during 2007, its 300th anniversary year. Further support is still needed for more scholarships and teaching resources, the refurbishment of the law library and for the newly created Chair of Medical Jurisprudence.
Earlier this month more than 300 former students attended a tercentenary reunion weekend at the School of Law.
