Levy & McRae to host Legal Netlink Alliance event

Lawyers representing 15 countries will come together in St Andrews this weekend to discuss the relationship between the media and the law, as well as changes in civil justice.

Members of the Legal Netlink Alliance (LNA) – an exclusive global alliance of leading law firms – will be joined by the Lord Justice Clerk, Lord Gill, and Charles Wilson, former editor of the Times and the Independent and managing director of Mirror Group Newspapers.

The conference will be hosted by private client firm Levy & McRae, the only Scottish members of the LNA.

Mr Wilson will lead a discussion focusing on the independence and interdependence of the law and the media, on the theme that free reporting and open courts are fundamental to the administration of justice.

Lord Gill, who was recently appointed to lead the Scottish Executive's review of civil justice, will be discussing “new departures in civil justice” and the need to reform the justice system to make it more relevant to modern needs in business and society.

Peter Watson, senior partner of Levy & McRae, said: “The quality of the attendees and speakers will ensure very lively debate. The weekend also provides delegates with a unique forum to share knowledge and expertise, as well as experience one of Scotland’s most famous locations.”
