Lockerbie bomber review announcement next week

The results of a review into the case against the Lockerbie bomber will be announced on 28 June.

Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi Mr Megrahi was convicted in 2001 of the murder of 270 people arising from the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in December 1988.

The Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission, which has been investigating whether the conviction may have resulted in a miscarriage of justice, is to announce its decision next Thursday by way of a summary of its findings, accompanied by additional information about the scale and format of the investigation.

The commission's review runs to more than 800 pages and will not be made public.

The commission can refer the case to the criminal appeal court to review in the light of its findings.
