Tennis success for law trainee

Paull & Williamsons' Jonathan Lints wins Scottish Grand Prix Tennis Championships

A trainee lawyer from commercial law firm Paull & Williamsons has proved that he is a success in more than one type of court.

Jonathan Lints, a trainee at the firm since 2006, won this year’s Scottish Grand Prix Tennis Championships at Craiglockhart Tennis Centre in Edinburgh last month.

A series of qualifying tournaments are played throughout the year and along with 16 of Scotland’s top players, Jonathan made it to the championship final in Edinburgh. He beat off strong competition from tournament favourite, Colin Fleming, who is a Davis Cup player and was ranked as number 360 in the world last year.

Jonathan won four matches in a row and beat Jordan Gray in a two-hour match in the final.

Jonathan, who is a member at Westhill Tennis Club in Aberdeen, said: “This is my first big competition win and I am very proud of my achievement. It's taken a lot of hard training but getting the opportunity to play against so many great players and win has made it all worthwhile.”
